Schedule: Hybrid, 4 days onsite (Monday to Thursday)
Pay Rate: $46.00 - $47.00/hour
Duration: 12-Month Contract (W2)
Shift: Morning Shift

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly technical Systems Engineer Controls professional to support the development of next-generation vehicle features from concept through production. This role is focused on systems engineering, feature ownership, requirements development, and architecture definition, rather than software testing or validation.

The ideal candidate will work across software, electrical, mechanical, and vehicle integration teams to translate customer and business needs into technical requirements, functional specifications, logical architectures, and software implementation requirements. This position offers the opportunity to influence key engineering decisions while driving vehicle features throughout the full development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead vehicle feature development from concept through production launch.
  • Define system requirements, functional specifications, and software implementation requirements.
  • Develop logical system architectures and feature behaviors.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including:
    • System Boundary Diagrams
    • DFMEAs
    • Verification and validation plans
    • Functional specifications
  • Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities.
  • Collaborate with software, electrical, mechanical, and vehicle integration teams to deliver feature functionality.
  • Drive technical trade-off discussions and engineering decisions across cross-functional teams.
  • Support functional safety and cybersecurity activities as needed.
  • Ensure feature designs align with quality, performance, and customer requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 years of Automotive Systems Engineering experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of Software Engineering experience supporting embedded systems.
  • Experience developing vehicle features from concept through production.
  • Experience writing:
    • Engineering requirements
    • Functional specifications
    • Implementation specifications
  • Experience creating DFMEAs and System Boundary Diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of the Systems Engineering V-Model.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, including:
    • CAN communication
    • Vehicle networking
    • Wiring and power distribution
    • Body and chassis systems
  • Ability to work across multiple engineering organizations to resolve complex technical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Automotive Systems Engineering experience.
  • Experience leading full feature development through the product lifecycle.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Experience performing Functional Safety and Cybersecurity assessments.
  • Electrical D&R experience.
  • Strong analytical, systems-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and technical discussions.
  • Experience progressing customer use cases through architecture, design, development, testing, and production integration.

What We're Looking For

This role is ideal for a systems engineer who has owned complex vehicle features and has a strong background in requirements development, architecture definition, and embedded systems engineering. Candidates whose experience is primarily focused on software testing or validation may not be the best fit for this opportunity.
