ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Our client is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Command, Control and Networking) to define and manage the architecture of next-generation spacecraft and ground support systems.
The Systems Architect will establish technical baselines, lead trade studies, manage system interfaces, and ensure complex subsystems integrate effectively to meet mission and environmental requirements. This position will also provide technical leadership through major design reviews, including PDR and CDR.

• Fields a set of sensors for reentry events at sites around the globe
• Commands and controls those sensors: correct mode, pointed in the right direction for each event
• Works across a mixed fleet of commodity and commercial radars plus novel NRL-designed and -built radar systems, several with loosely defined control interfaces
• Interfaces are non-embedded and an API over a network link is acceptable, so the profile is closer to test support software than to embedded software
• Requires familiarity with commanding instruments and networking disparate systems together, plus a systems architect skill set and a high degree of technical depth
• Develops software for run-time external commanding, controlling, and configuring, and for run-time delivery of status, event logs, state of health, and telemetry
• Develops safety-critical applications capable of detecting software and hardware faults and responding through isolation or recovery
• Develops software control of systems leveraging real-time sensing and actuating interfaces, and application-specific boot code for baseline services and OS load
• Provides engineering support to the flight and ground system design and development team to assure system integrity, apply standards, exploit emerging technologies, and reuse software components across ground and space systems
• Provides specific input on hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and use of COTS/GOTS in place of new development
• Mitigates risk, controls cost and schedule variance, manages large-scale integrated software projects, and tests software components against design requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
• Significant experience in systems engineering and system architecture
• Experience with complex aerospace, spacecraft, defense, or mission-critical systems
• Experience with system integration, technical baselines, and trade studies
• Experience supporting major design reviews, preferably PDR and CDR
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams
• Experience with system modeling or architecture tools preferred
• Knowledge of military, aerospace, or space-environment standards preferred
• Ability to work with sensitive and classified program information
