Space Flight Systems Development and Operations Contract (SpaceDOC III) contract located at NASA's Glenn Research Center.

NASA Glenn Research Center, under the SpaceDOC-III contract, is seeking a Systems Engineer with 15+ years’ experience in spaceflight project engineering support in documentation, requirement management, cross-discipline coordination, processes, and logistics. This position may support a variety of projects including a lunar surface power distribution project.

 

Typical Functions:

1. Adhere to all applicable Company, Customer and Industry safety standards and practices.
2. Experience with technical documentation and writing.
3. Requirement management, including integrating deriving technical requirements and verification tracking.
4. Project coordination between the Integrated Project Team (IPT) consisting of various engineering disciplines and stakeholders.  
5. Help identify process improvements and drive process implementation.
6. Support design narratives, system drawings, technical studies, and reports as required.
7. Use of MS Office products including, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and MS Word. Experience with MS Project is desired.
8. Aid with project identification of component needs, procurement, and tracking.
9. Assist in the development of a new integrated spaceflight system.
10. Create and deliver concise technical summary reports to the team.
11. Assisting project management with project planning and adjusting schedule timelines.
12. Support in risk identification and risk management.
13. Tracking and supporting the submission of project deliverables to customer stakeholders.
14. Support the quality of the project deliverables.
15. Complete assigned projects on time and on budget.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

 

1. The successful applicant will possess a BS or higher degree in an engineering field (granted by an ABET-accredited university), physics, or other related field of science.
2. Specialized knowledge and experience within one or more of the following: spaceflight hardware development, procedure development, operations & processes, testing and test summary reports,
3. Demonstrable knowledge of general-purpose software tools such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point is required. MS Project is desired. 
4. Space industry experience for all project phases from project inception, and through design, development, procurement, assembly, test, validation, integration and operations.
5. Prior experience coordinating within a project team and communicating assignments.
6. US Citizenship required and the ability to qualify (and maintain qualification) for a Secret Clearance is desired.
