Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Systems Engineer 4. The work will be done onsite in Tucson, AZ. This is a long-term position (24 months) that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $62/hour + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary
The Systems Engineer 4 will support the integration, testing, and validation of advanced autonomous vehicle systems in a hands-on engineering environment. This role focuses on developing and executing test plans, analyzing system performance, troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and software issues, and documenting results to support product development efforts. The position offers the opportunity to work directly with large autonomous machines while collaborating with software developers, test operators, and engineering teams. Candidates should be comfortable working in a field environment and enjoy solving technical challenges involving complex systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Create, update, and execute test and validation plans for autonomous vehicle systems.
• Perform on-machine testing and validation activities to evaluate system functionality and reliability.
• Analyze test data and provide recommendations to improve system performance.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues in complex autonomous systems.
• Document test results, communicate findings, and prepare detailed technical reports.
• Collaborate with software developers, operators, and engineering teams to resolve issues and support development activities.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; equivalent experience in control systems, vehicle testing, engine systems, or autonomous technologies may be considered.
• 5+ years of experience with a Master’s degree or 7–8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in testing, validation, development, or systems engineering.
• Strong troubleshooting skills in complex mechanical, electrical, or software systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems and common engineering software tools.
• Experience developing test plans, executing validation activities, and documenting technical results.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Ubuntu or Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of electrical schematics and system diagnostics.
• Experience with autonomous technologies, including perception, planning, positioning, or vehicle control systems.
• Background in vehicle testing, validation, heavy equipment, off-highway machinery, or similar mobile equipment platforms.
• Familiarity with data analysis and performance evaluation methodologies.
