Are you seeking a highly rewarding job with global impact? This position may be the perfect fit for you! At Leidos, our mission is to be the global leader in developing and applying technology to solve our customers' most complex challenges. We are looking for a results-driven Systems Architect to join the Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Enterprise Center (NEC) team at Fort Meade, MD.

This role is more than just a job-it's an opportunity to contribute to critical national security efforts. The NC3 Enterprise Center serves as the Department of Defense's lead organization for enterprise-level systems engineering and architecture for NC3. Under the leadership of the Commander, U.S. Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), the team leverages subject matter expertise and best practices to transform mission and operational requirements into effective solutions and capabilities. This is a Mission Essential contract that must be performed under all circumstances to achieve its DoD component missions and responsibilities.

As a Systems Architect on the contract's Configuration Management Team, you will work with government customers to establish system information requirements and design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure architectures integrating software, hardware, and communications. The role governs technical architecture while ensuring all system changes are identified, controlled, audited, and documented per DoD standards, supporting compliance, audit readiness, and present and future cross-functional capabilities and interfaces.

This is your chance to be part of a team tackling some of the most significant challenges faced by our nation's leaders. Working alongside our customer at Fort Meade, you'll have the opportunity to apply your skills to meaningful work with far-reaching impact. Don't wait-join our team and be part of the solution. Apply today!

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design the blueprint for mission-critical systems - Establish system information requirements and architect end-to-end solutions across software, hardware, and communications that meet today's demands while scaling for tomorrow's cross-functional needs.

  • Keep the enterprise in sync - Maintain the NC3 Configuration Management Plan and Baseline, driving change control, configuration identification, status accounting, and audits that keep complex systems accurate, secure, and mission-ready.

  • Modernize how work gets done - Champion the digital engineering strategy by automating and digitizing configuration management workflows, building federated data frameworks, and streamlining audit and verification processes.

  • Solve problems that matter - Analyze workflow and organizational challenges, identify gaps, and develop smart corrective actions that improve performance and strengthen the broader NC3 Enterprise.

  • Collaborate at the highest levels - Partner with configuration control boards, engineering teams, and senior stakeholders to review change requests, present findings, and shape decisions that safeguard national security missions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Security Clearance: Top Secret/SCI clearance (mandatory).

  • Education: BA or BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or educational equivalent.

  • Experience: 5+ years in the following:

  • Establishing system information requirements.

  • Designing architecture - including software, hardware and communications - to support total requirements and provide for present and future cross-functional requirements and interfaces.

  • Evaluating problems of workflows and organization and developing appropriate corrective actions.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools (MS Teams, SharePoint).

  • Communication: Strong written/verbal skills for technical documentation and presentations.

  • Work Style: Ability to manage multiple tasks in an agile, dynamic environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • The Open Group Framework (TOGAF) certification.

  • DoD Architecture Framework (DODAF) certification.

  • Experience with systems engineering and enterprise architecture for high assurance communications systems.

  • Background in NC3 architecture/performance analysis and engineering design.

  • Knowledge of National Leadership Command Capability or Senior Leader Command, Control, and Communications Systems.

Experience collaborating with NC3 stakeholders including Air Force, Navy, NC3 Enterprise Center, USSTRATCOM, USCYBERCOM, Joint Staff, and OSD.
