Systems Architect C. Advanced (AWS Cloud Solutions Architect):

The Systems Architect C. Advanced will serve as a senior technical resource supporting an enterprise Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE), with a primary focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS) administration and cloud solutions architecture. The role is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, automating, and optimizing enterprise AWS environments while providing technical leadership for cloud migrations, infrastructure modernization, governance, security, and production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable, secure, highly available AWS cloud architectures.

• Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert for AWS cloud solutions.

• Establish and enforce cloud architecture, governance, and operational standards.

• Design solutions for:

  • High Availability

  • Fault Tolerance

  • Scalability

  • Disaster Recovery

• Automate infrastructure provisioning using:

  • Terraform

  • AWS CloudFormation

• Lead on-premises-to-AWS cloud migration initiatives.

• Perform cloud migration assessments, architecture design, planning, and execution.

• Design and administer AWS networking, including:

  • VPCs

  • Routing

  • DNS

  • Load Balancing

  • Hybrid Connectivity

• Implement AWS security controls, IAM, encryption, and compliance requirements.

• Monitor cloud performance, availability, reliability, and costs.

• Identify and implement cloud cost-optimization opportunities.

• Troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure and application issues.

• Perform root cause analysis for production incidents.

• Support DEV, UAT, and PROD environments.

• Collaborate with application development, infrastructure, security, and business teams.

• Mentor junior cloud engineers and systems administrators.

• Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend appropriate solutions.

• Respond to production incidents, outages, and emergency situations.

• Maintain architecture diagrams, configurations, standards, and operational documentation.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Support enterprise Cloud Center of Excellence initiatives.

• Develop cloud governance frameworks and operational procedures.

• Support DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation initiatives.

• Assist development teams with cloud application architecture and deployment.

• Support .NET Framework and C# enterprise applications.

• Promote cloud security and architecture best practices.

• Maintain documentation for knowledge transfer and operational consistency.

Required Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

• Extensive AWS cloud architecture and administration experience.

• Strong understanding of AWS compute, storage, networking, and database services.

• Experience designing enterprise cloud architectures for scalability, availability, security, and disaster recovery.

• Hands-on experience with Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.

• Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience.

• Experience with AWS networking, including:

  • VPC Design

  • Routing

  • DNS

  • Load Balancing

  • Hybrid Connectivity

• Strong experience with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM).

• Knowledge of cloud encryption, security, and compliance frameworks.

• Experience leading cloud migration and modernization projects.

• Experience with Linux and/or Windows systems administration.

• Experience with cloud monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.

• Scripting and automation experience using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.

• Experience troubleshooting production cloud infrastructure and applications.

• Strong technical leadership and architecture skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Multi-cloud experience across:

  • AWS

  • Microsoft Azure

  • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• Experience with cloud cost optimization and governance frameworks.

• Experience implementing DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience supporting government or large enterprise environments.

• Experience with:

  • PostgreSQL

  • SQL Server

  • Amazon Aurora

  • Cosmos DB

• Experience with Azure AD Federation Services / Microsoft Entra ID.

• Experience with enterprise Identity and Access Management.

• Knowledge of JavaScript and Cloud Shell.

• Experience supporting C# and .NET applications.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience architecting enterprise AWS cloud solutions.

• Ability to lead cloud architecture, migration, governance, and modernization initiatives.

• Strong customer service and stakeholder communication skills.

Education:

• Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

• Equivalent professional experience may be considered.

Certifications:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional Highly Preferred

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate Preferred

• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate Preferred

• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional Preferred

• HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate Preferred
