Job Title: Systems Analyst 3
Location(s): Austin, TX
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Systems Analyst 3 with strong expertise in healthcare interoperability, HL7 v2, FHIR, and REST API development. The selected candidate will serve as a FHIR/HL7 development resource, supporting the design, development, testing, and maintenance of healthcare interfaces and interoperability solutions.
The ideal candidate will have experience with healthcare data exchange, FHIR implementation guides, secure web portals, healthcare terminology standards, and cloud-based healthcare data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand business objectives and requirements, identify alternative solutions, and conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
- Analyze user requirements, operational procedures, and existing systems to identify opportunities for automation and improvement.
- Design, develop, test, and support healthcare interfaces using HL7 v2, FHIR, and REST APIs.
- Perform healthcare data mapping, transformation, validation, troubleshooting, and error handling.
- Develop and maintain integrations for healthcare data exchange using JSON, XML, and related technologies.
- Design and support secure web portals and portal-integrated services for retrieving and displaying healthcare data.
- Implement authentication, authorization, and role-based access control.
- Review system capabilities, technical specifications, and scheduling constraints to determine implementation feasibility.
- Develop technical documentation, functional specifications, and detailed descriptions of user requirements.
- Support FHIR server integrations, FHIR APIs, and healthcare interoperability solutions.
- Implement modern application delivery practices, including automated builds, CI/CD pipelines, testing, and production support.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting healthcare interfaces.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- HL7 v2 and FHIR
- REST APIs
- JSON and XML
- Healthcare data mapping and transformation
- Data validation and troubleshooting
- Error handling and healthcare data exchange
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of experience developing secure web portals or portal-integrated services.
- 5 years of experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python.
- 3 years of experience implementing FHIR solutions using US Core profiles, Electronic Case Reporting (eCR) Implementation Guides, and other HL7 Implementation Guides.
- 3 years of experience integrating or implementing FHIR servers, FHIR APIs, and healthcare interoperability solutions.
- 3 years of experience mapping, transforming, and validating healthcare data across HL7 v2, FHIR, and analytical data models.
- 3 years of experience with healthcare terminology standards, including:
- SNOMED CT
- LOINC
- ICD-10
- CVX
- RxNorm
- 3 years of experience implementing FHIR solutions on AWS or similar cloud platforms.
- Experience integrating healthcare data with cloud-based ingestion pipelines, storage services, analytics platforms, and enterprise data platforms.
- 3 years of experience with modern application delivery practices, including:
- Git and automated builds
- CI/CD pipelines
- Unit and integration testing
- Code reviews and defect tracking
- Logging and monitoring
- Technical documentation
Additional Preferred Skills
- Experience with AWS HealthLake.
- Experience with Snowflake.
- Experience with Electronic Case Reporting (eICR).
- Experience with public health reporting and disease surveillance.
- Experience with React, FastAPI, and Terraform.
