PURPOSE OF THE CLASSIFICATION:
Responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and reliability of the City's server, storage, virtualization, identity management, and core technology infrastructure while providing advanced technical support and ensuring the availability of critical business systems.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Systems Administrator reports directly to the IT Director.
The Systems Administrator does not have any direct reports or supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and at least an Associate degree in a related field with a minimum of two (2) years' experience with server and PC troubleshooting in a networked environment; or an equivalent amount of education and experience.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Basic knowledge of network hardware including switches, routers, cabling, firewalls and other such equipment; knowledge of and experience with network protocols; experience with Microsoft PC operating systems that include Windows 10 and Windows 11; experience with server administration on Windows Server 2008, 2012 or later Standard and Enterprise; experience with Microsoft Exchange server administration; experience maintaining Microsoft Office applications; experience with configuring web filters (Barracuda preferred); experience with virtual servers in VMWare environment. Knowledge and experience with Active Directory and domain controllers is a must. Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices. Experience with VoIP telephone systems. Experience with cloud services (Microsoft 365 and Azure preferred). Experience administering virtualization platforms. Experience with PowerShell or other scripting languages for automation. Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery methodologies. Candidate must be very customer service oriented and be able to carry out daily tasks with minimal supervision. Must be a self-starter. Candidate must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, the ability to prioritize infrastructure issues based on business impact, ability to document technical procedures and maintain accurate record systems and work independently while managing multiple priorities. Strong project management and organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Punctuality and reasonable attendance is essential. Must submit to drug screening and fitness to work physical exam.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Oklahoma Class D driver's license is required.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work in this classification is primarily indoors in an office environment. Will travel to other City locations as required. Requires some night and weekend work with ability to work on-call.
