CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION
CLASSIFICATION TITLE: SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to maintain computer equipment and networks to ensure optimum performance. Under general supervision, this position will provide support for computer systems and networks of Jackson County, Georgia. Reports to the Information Technology Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work is performed with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee must use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity and must move equipment weighing up to 70 lbs, typically on a daily basis. The work is performed primarily in an office and indoors, where the employee may be exposed to dust and dirt.
DISCRETIONARY AUTHORITY & JUDGMENT EXERCISED:
The IT Director assigns work in terms of goals and objectives. The work may be reviewed for the nature and propriety of the results. Guidelines include the Jackson County information technology policies and established Microsoft server network guidelines. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
SCOPE & IMPACT:
The purpose of this position is to assist in the installation, configuration and troubleshooting computer networks and associated assemblies. The employee frequently interacts with co-workers for the purposes of exchanging information, resolving problems and explaining procedures.

Includes exercising discretion in determining data classification, and in referencing such analysis to established standards for the purpose of recognizing actual or probable interactive effects and relationships.

Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
