Position Title: Systems Administrator III

Essential Duties
Responsible for overseeing agency endpoint devices (desktops, laptops, phones), including configuration
management, imaging, software deployment, and vulnerability remediation.
3+ years experience administering Microsoft Configuration Manager (MCM, MECM, SCCM, SMS),
including OS management (imaging, task sequences, updates), and software management (applications,
packages, updates).
Experience with Mobile Device Management platforms (InTune, Airwatch/Omnissa,etc.), including
device configuration and application deployment.
Experience with endpoint vulnerability management.

Additional Duties
Performs mid-level systems administration tasks within ISD.
Installs, configures, maintains, and administers computers, laptops, mobile devices, servers, operating systems,
and applications.
Analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves system hardware, software, and networking issues; provides status
reports to management.
Cross-trains to provide backup to other systems administrators on critical agency systems.
Researches, develops, and documents operating procedures for technical support, troubleshooting, and
maintenance.
Studies existing information processing systems to evaluate effectiveness, and recommends new systems to
improve production or workflow as required.
Assists with managing the roles and access privileges of users and devices to a variety of applications to prevent
unauthorized access.
Participates in Tier 2 user support duties; covers Tier 1 support duties when needed.
May evaluate and recommend action on testing and certification of system software and hardware upgrades.
Maintains regular work schedule.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Acquisition of skills and capabilities
The Office of the Governor's Information Services Division is seeking to recruit staff to join with a set of required
experience and capabilities. ISD will accept that these skills, capabilities, and experiences may be acquired in
different ways as described below;

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science,
management information systems, or a related field, and two (2) years of professional experience in systems
support and/or systems administration work.
Four (4) years of professional experience in systems support and/or systems administration work within an IT
department.
Professional experience for six (6) years performing systems support and/or systems administration work in a
state, city, government, or commercial organization but outside of an IT department with no such title held.

Knowledge of Microsoft configuration management systems (SMS/SCCM/MECM/InTune).
Knowledge of systems administration, computer hardware, software configuration and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of operating systems and applications.
Knowledge of copiers and printers.
• Knowledge of wired and wireless networking and associated technologies (IP networking, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
• Knowledge of computer scripting languages (Powershell).
• Knowledge of server virtualization technologies.
• Knowledge of web conferencing technologies (Teams, Zoom, GoToMeeting/Webinar, webcams, microphones).
• Skill in administration of Microsoft Windows.
• Skill in administration of Microsoft Office products.
• Skill in administration of Microsoft 365.
• Skill in administration of Active Directory.
• Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or
approaches to problems.

Registration, Certification or Licensure
Valid Texas Driver's License.
Physical Requirements and/or Working Conditions
This classification functions in a standard office environment. Ability to move up to 30 Ibs. Ability to drive and travel as
needed. Will need to move about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, set up conference rooms for meetings,
etc. Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information via phone, computer and in person. Must be able to
observe and evaluate data in a variety of formats, including hard copy, electronic and media formats. Repetitive use of a
keyboard at a workstation. Work with overlapping projects and deadlines. Work as a team member. Have direct customer
contact. Work with sensitive and confidential information. Must be able to occasionally work hours that may include nights,
weekends, and holidays, as needed. Must be able to participate in after-hours, weekend, and holiday on-call support duties
(done on a rotating basis with other systems administrators). Must be able to support users remotely and in perso
