Systems Administrator 2 (Linux) PART-TIME

Amentum is seeking a Systems Administrator 2 Linux PART-TIME for a position on Kauai HI.Provides Red Hat Enterprise Linux RHEL system administration for all Clients and Servers connected to the Pacific Missile Range Facility PMRF classified and unclassified networks. Deploys Cyber Security mandated system upgrades system patches and system security lockdown requirements. Performs system wide troubleshooting and problem resolution in a live mission environment.ResponsibilitiesAdminister and maintain Red Hat Linux RHEL and other Linux-based environments in classified and unclassified environments across Navy networks.Implement and maintain RMF security controls and ensure systems are compliant with DISA STIGs and DoW cybersecurity policies.Apply and manage patches and updates across all Linux systems in accordance with DoW and Navy patch management policies.Manage automated installation methods and system imaging e.g. SCCM VMware Nutanix Satellite AnsiblePerform system hardening patching and vulnerability remediation using tools such as ACAS ESS and SCAP.Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation of administrative tasks and system configuration.Support virtualization platforms VMware Hyper-V and manage virtual infrastructure lifecycle.Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to support ATO packages POA&Ms and audit readiness.Maintain and develop system documentation configuration baselines and standard operating procedures SOPs.Participate in Change Control Boards CCBs and Configuration Management Boards CMBs.Lead incident response forensic analysis and system recovery efforts.Define backup and disaster recovery strategies using enterprise tools e.g. Veeam Commvault.Evaluate and recommend new Linux technologies and DoW-approved tools.General office environment with site visits as well as periodic at sea duty to support the PMRFs Mobile at Sea Sensor system MATSSCandidate must be capable of working in a team environment and participate in technical and system administrative activities throughout project life cycles.Perform other duties as assigned.Physical Elements EnvironmentLifting PushingPulling over 50lbsWork positions requirements walking standing crawling kneeling cramped sitting and work requiring repeated stooping or frequent climbing.Environment customer contact extended workday confined work area office laboratory field assignment and inclement weather.Minimum QualificationsExperienceTwo 2 year of specialized Linux system administration is required.Years of directly related work experience may be substituted for a degreeKnowledge of IT systems and advance IT infrastructure conceptsMust be proficient in operating personal computers computer software and standard office equipmentMust have basic keyboarding skills and aptitude for neatness and accuracy in sortingCritical thinking - Proven problem solverProficiency in automation tools and scripting e.g. PowerShell Bash PythonVMwareNutanix certificationKnowledgeAdministration of Trellix LogRhythm and MDEExperience with DoW systems and infrastructureKnowledge in Cyber Security Methods and TechniquesKnowledge of DoW IT systems to include Windows RHEL and comprehensive infrastructure conceptsEducationAssociates DegreeHigh School Diploma with four 4 years of directly related system administration experience may be substituted for an A.S. degree.Advance certifications or education may be substituted for a degree or experienceCertifications subject to change based on industry DoW or local policy requirementsDODI 8570.1M IAT Level II required prior to startLinux or Red Hat Certified System Administrator RHCSA Certification required prior to startPreferred QualificationsAdvance knowledge and certification in both Windows Server and RHEL is considered highly desiredSecurity ClearanceMust be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret US Government Clearance.
