System Medical Director in Montgomery, AL

TeamHealth is seeking an accomplished hospital medicine physician leader to serve as system medical director for hospital medicine and emergency medicine across Montgomery, Alabama, for the Baptist Health System. This highly visible leadership role offers the opportunity to partner with executive and operational leaders to advance quality, safety, physician engagement, operational performance and strategic growth across two essential service lines in three facilities. 

As system medical director, you will provide clinical oversight and strategic direction for HM and EM  programs, fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams while promoting a culture of excellence, accountability and patient-centered care. 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide physician leadership for hospital medicine and emergency medicine services across the health system
• Champion quality improvement initiatives, patient safety, and evidence-based clinical practice
• Collaborate with hospital administration to achieve strategic, financial and operational goals
• Mentor and develop physician leaders while cultivating a highly engaged clinical team
• Drive performance metrics related to patient experience, throughput, clinical outcomes, and clinician satisfaction
• Partner with nursing and executive leadership to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration
• Support physician recruitment, retention, and succession planning
• Lead process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency and optimize patient care

• Board certified in internal medicine
• Demonstrated leadership experience in hospital medicine
• Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
• Passion for quality improvement, physician engagement and transformational leadership
