System Integration and Test Engineer
6 Months ++
5 days Onsite in Foster City, CA
Interview Process: In Person Required
Project Description:
We are seeking an experienced System Integration & Test Engineer to support vehicle systems integration and testing for an advanced autonomous vehicle platform.
This position will work within the Systems Integration and Test team, which is responsible for ensuring robust system performance across vehicle-centric systems within the Motion, Body, and Electrical/Electronic (EE) Architecture domains. The engineer will play a hands-on role in testing, troubleshooting, analysing, and resolving complex vehicle system integration issues identified during development testing and fleet service operations.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in electric vehicle development, automotive systems engineering, vehicle electrical architecture, embedded systems, and hands-on integration testing. This role requires someone who can work across hardware, software, controls, communications, and electrical systems to identify issues, analyse vehicle data, and drive problems through resolution.
Duties/Day to Day Overview
Key Responsibilities
Conduct system integration and validation testing at both the Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test bench and vehicle level.
Evaluate vehicle system performance under both nominal and off-nominal operating conditions.
Investigate complex vehicle-level integration issues discovered during testing and fleet service operations.
Perform detailed data analysis to identify system behavior, failures, integration risks, and potential areas of concern.
Partner with cross-functional engineering stakeholders to understand technical issues and mitigate potential impact to program milestones.
Troubleshoot issues spanning vehicle electrical systems, electronic control systems, communications networks, hardware, and embedded systems.
Work with automotive communication protocols including CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
Use automotive instrumentation and data acquisition tools such as Vector CANalyzer, ETAS INCA, Intrepid, and CSM.
Perform hands-on electrical troubleshooting using tools including digital multimeters (DMMs), oscilloscopes, electrical schematics, and Saleae Logic Analyzers.
Analyze vehicle signals, network communication, electrical behavior, and system performance to help determine root causes of integration problems.
Identify opportunities to improve system behavior, controls, and diagnostic monitors.
Drive technical issue resolution for complex problems identified through vehicle testing and service operations.
Clearly communicate testing results, identified risks, technical findings, and issue status to cross-functional stakeholders.
Create and maintain engineering documentation and track testing progress and open issues using JIRA and Confluence.
Support end-to-end vehicle platform integration with a focus on achieving robust and reliable vehicle system performance.
This role is best suited for an engineer who enjoys being close to the actual vehicle and solving difficult integration problems rather than working exclusively in simulation or software development.
Strong candidates will have a combination of:
Vehicle Systems + Electrical Architecture + CAN/LIN/Ethernet + HIL Testing + Data Acquisition + Hands-On Troubleshooting
The engineer should be comfortable moving between bench testing, vehicle testing, electrical diagnostics, network/data analysis, and cross-functional root-cause investigation.
