Job Title: Systems Engineer Contract Days: 226 Reports to: Executive Director of Technology Pay Grade: Administrative Professional 0 2 Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Funding Source: Local Revision Date: March 2021 Primary Purpose: The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of all server and server support systems. These systems include but are not limited to: directory services, electronic messaging, databases, backup and recovery systems, and c lient update/patch management and imaging processes. Critical to this position is oversight of all systems hardware and virtualization maintenance and ensuring that all systems resources are up to date appropriately licensed. The Systems Engineer works c losely with the other Technology Department members as well as with DeSoto ISD departments to provide appropriately and professionally designed and effectively implemented solutions. Qualifications: Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree or extensive w orking experience in a server -related field 3+ years Microsoft Server configuration work, including Windows Server 2012, 2016, and 201 9. Ensure system availability and reliability, including resource optimization of operating systems and associated subsystems. 2. Provide system -level support of multi -user operating systems, hardware and sof tware tools, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of these systems. 3. Provide technical assistance to campus faculty and staff for use of equipment including computer hardware and software . 4. Maintain accurate inventory of hardware and software at assigned campuses . 5. Perform upgrades to software and hardware. 6. Assist with the research of techniques, creation, implementation, and documentation of a disaster recovery plan Application Support 7. Work with stakeholders and users to determine programing needs, clarify requests, translate user and systems requirements into functional technical specifications, and provide technical assistance. 8. Acquire a minimum working knowledge of all district applications in order to optimize performance, analy ze, and resolve problems. modify as required, and test modifications . 9. Provide programming -related support for administrative applications (e.g., student, payroll, finance, personnel). 10. Coordinate business systems -related issues with regional educational ser vice center staff, including identification of and assistance with the resolution of program problems, design of systems enhancements, and implementation of system enhancements. Other 11. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required. 12. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. 13. Respond to after -hours emergencies as needed. 14. Frequent in -district and occasional in -state or national travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
