We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to support mission-critical IT infrastructure in the Jessup / Annapolis Junction, Maryland area.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Linux systems administration, VMware virtualization, and NetApp storage technologies. This position involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing enterprise infrastructure to ensure system availability, performance, and security.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based servers and operating systems.
Administer and support VMware virtualized environments, including virtual machines, hosts, and associated infrastructure.
Manage and maintain NetApp storage systems to support enterprise infrastructure requirements.
Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to ensure reliable operations.
Perform system updates, patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance.
Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, storage, and virtualization issues.
Implement and maintain system security configurations and best practices.
Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
Collaborate with engineering, networking, cybersecurity, and other technical teams to resolve infrastructure issues.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and operational procedures.
Identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Education and Experience – Candidates must meet one of the following:
High School Diploma and a minimum of 14 years of relevant experience, OR
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
Technical Requirements:
Strong hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting Linux operating systems.
Extensive experience with VMware virtualization technologies.
Strong knowledge of NetApp storage solutions and administration.
Experience supporting enterprise-level server and storage infrastructure.
Ability to troubleshoot complex system and infrastructure issues.
Knowledge of system security, patch management, and performance monitoring.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a technical environment.
Certification Requirement:
Must possess a current DoD IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA Security+ CE or another qualifying certification.
Experience supporting Department of Defense or Intelligence Community environments.
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
Familiarity with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
Experience with NetApp ONTAP and enterprise storage administration.
Experience with scripting and automation using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
Familiarity with system hardening, security compliance, and vulnerability remediation.
Experience supporting high-availability, mission-critical systems.
