System Administrator, L3 Controls Systems

System Administrator (Control Systems) –L3
This position requires a resource with at least 8 years of experience in the given technology areas. Key competencies include subject matter expertise and system administrator experience with Microsoft Windows OS, VMware, Linux OS, and Nutanix technologies. Knowledge of supporting operations technology or control system environments is preferred. The candidate should be able to quickly understand and resolve issues, mitigate risks, and analyze dependencies. This role must adhere to utility industry regulatory requirements and best practices to ensure real-time operation of the organization's Control Systems environments remains available 24/7.
Essential Skills and Competencies
Server & Infrastructure Administration

• Manage and administer Windows (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025) and Linux (RHEL 7.X, 8.X, 9.X) servers
• Support and manage server virtualization, server provisioning, physical server maintenance, security compliance, and daily operation of control system environments
• Maintain the physical server lifecycle, including provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of hardware
• Maintain the virtualized server environment via configuration, implementation, management, and support activities
• Maintain the Nutanix and VMware VDI environment via configuration, implementation, management, and support activities

Monitoring, Security & Compliance

• Maintain security baseline compliance via configuration, implementation, and remediation activities;report on compliance via routine compliance and audit tasks
• Monitor server infrastructure health status, service performance, and utilization;report on trends and anomalies
• Implement and maintain continuous compliance with information security policies, NERC CIP (North American Electric Reliability Corporation –Critical Infrastructure Protection), and technical standards;report and remediate non-compliances
• Apply regular security patches and software updates using Microsoft SCCM and Red Hat Satellite server

Support & Collaboration

• Provide tier-3 engineering support and business continuity support for control system infrastructure
• Collaborate with application, network, security, and functional teams supporting Control System tools and applications
• Participate in on-call Control System support rotation cycle

Technical Skill Requirements

• Core experience in Windows, Active Directory, Nutanix Prism Central, VMware vSphere and vRealize Suite, vRealize Automation (vRA), vRealize Orchestrator (vRO), Horizon View administration, and Linux in a global and heterogeneous environment
• Good understanding of virtualization technology (Nutanix, Hyper-V, VMware)
• Hands-on experience diagnosing and troubleshooting the above technologies and product suites
• Good understanding of highly available and disaster recovery environments
• Experience in performance tuning of Nutanix, VMware servers, and virtual sessions, and managing server resources across physical and virtual machines
• Experience and expertise with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, ADFS, Group Policies, and FTP/SFTP
• Ability to implement AD infrastructure;proficient in recovery of AD Domain Controllers, DNS, WINS, DHCP servers
• In-depth knowledge of Domain Controller replication configurations
• Good exposure to Group Policy creation, testing, and implementation
• Good knowledge and troubleshooting skills on MS clusters and load balancing
• Strong in file and print server management;knowledge of Windows Security
• Excellent PowerShell scripting and task automation skills, with measurable operational efficiencies
• Overall knowledge of data center environments —physical hardware placement, racking, cabling, etc.
• Skilled at working with hardware and OEM vendors for support and troubleshooting, including hardware break-fix and large platform/server upgrades or migrations
• Skilled at coordinating with multiple teams and stakeholders to run daily operations smoothly
• Good working experience with RAID management and array controllers
• Expertise in backup products and protocol suite/command line utilities
• Experience with OEM hardware (Dell/HP) and remote connectivity tools
• Proficiency in system fault tolerance design, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning
• Prior experience in Operations Technology or Control System environments preferred
