Sybase Database Administrator

Stratacent is looking for a Sybase DBA who will be responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, performance tuning, security, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting of Sybase ASE database environments. We help our customers in their digital transformation journey and provide solutions around Cloud Services, Automation, Data and Analytics, Application Development, IT Service Management, and Cyber Security.

Job Description:
Stratacent is looking for a Sybase DBA who will be responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, maintenance, performance tuning, security, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting of Sybase ASE database environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintaian Sybase ASE database servers.
• Monitor database health, performance, and availability.
• Perform database capacity planning and storage management.
• Manage database objects, users, roles, and permissions.

• Analyze and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Monitor and tune database performance to meet SLA requirements.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks related to CPU, memory, disk I/O, and locking issues.
• Optimize indexes and database structures.

• Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies.
• Perform regular database backups and restoration testing.
• Ensure business continuity through disaster recovery planning and implementation.
• Support high-availability and replication solutions.

• Implement database security policies and access controls.
• Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor database activities and address security incidents.

• Provide production support for database-related issues.
• Troubleshoot performance, connectivity, and system failures.
• Work closely with application teams, developers, and infrastructure teams.
• Participate in on-call support and incident management activities.

Required Skills:

• Strong experience with Sybase ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) administration.
• Knowledge of Sybase Replication Server and High Availability solutions.
• Expertise in database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and index management.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, stored procedures, and database architecture.
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Understanding of database security best practices.
• Experience with monitoring and automation tools.
