Overview
Switch Technician with a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) (TAFB-2026-25884):
Bowhead seeks a Switch Technician with a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification to support the Base Telecommunications System (BTS) contract at Travis Air Force Base, California. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the newly installed Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) supporting David Grant Medical Center and the surrounding hospital campus. This is a unique opportunity to join the team during the deployment of a new Cisco Unified Communications solution. Qualified candidates hired early in the contract will have the opportunity to participate in the installation, configuration, testing, and transition of the new CUCM environment before assuming long-term operations and maintenance responsibilities.

Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate''s degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related technical field preferred.
Bachelor''s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is a plus but not required.
Relevant military training or technical certifications may be substituted for formal education.
Years of experience
3+ years of experience supporting Cisco Unified Communications (CUCM) and enterprise VoIP environments.
Experience administering, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).
Experience with Cisco IP phones, voice gateways, Unity Connection, and supporting voice infrastructure.
Experience performing software upgrades, patch management, licensing, and system backups.
Experience troubleshooting Layer 2/Layer 3 network connectivity related to VoIP services.
Required skills or certifications
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification (required).
DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification (Security+).
Experience administering Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM).
Experience supporting Cisco VoIP and Unified Communications environments.
Working knowledge of Cisco voice gateways, Unity, UCS servers, virtual environments, and IP telephony.
Experience performing software upgrades, patch management, certificate management, and licensing.
Understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, VLANs, QoS, and voice over IP.
Ability to troubleshoot complex voice and network issues in a mission-critical environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to obtain and maintain required Government security credentials.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Department of Defense or Federal telecommunications systems.
Experience with VMware, Cisco UCS, Cisco Unity Connection, Local Session Controllers, and E-911 systems.
Experience with STIG compliance, PKI certificates, and Cisco Smart Licensing.
Previous experience supporting hospital or healthcare communications environments.
Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
Physical Demands:
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required. Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
