The Wake County Environmental Health & Safety team is seeking seasonal employees to help us with the more than 1,400 public swimming pools in Wake County, including city, apartment, and neighborhood facilities.

The Swimming Pool Technician / Environmental Health Technician is responsible for protecting public health through the routine inspection of public swimming pools in Wake County by enforcing local regulations.

In this role, you will be able to travel to various pools throughout the county, and every day will be a little different. Those with current or prior experience working around swimming pools, such as experience using pH or chemical test kits, or experience working as a lifeguard, are encouraged to apply.

Primary Duties:

• Inspect public swimming pools, spas, and wading pools using chemical test kits to perform testing of Chlorine and pH levels.
• Verify complete and accurate records of activities by Certified Pool Operators by reviewing daily records kept at the facility.
• Determine violations through inspections that could adversely affect public health and safety.
• Suspend permits for violations per local rules and regulations.
• Perform check list and physical inspections of all listed items on Wake County Swimming Pool Inspection Form.
• Conduct face-to-face meetings with operators.
• Investigate complaints of swimming pools.
