Job Description

Summary

Sustain Mizzou provides students with high-impact education and programming about environmentalism and sustainability. Sustain Mizzou Program Leads assist the Sustainability Coordinator and Student Directors in providing educational and engaging programs to the campus while working collaboratively on a vibrant leadership team.

Essential Functions

Work with the Sustainability Coordinator and Sustain Mizzou Student Directors to advance overall sustainability programming on campus.

Directly manage a Sustain Mizzou sub-program. Sub-programs include but are not limited to:

  • Zero-Waste (gameday recycling, composting, green events)
  • Biking, Beekeeping
  • Stream/Campus Cleans
  • Community Gardening
  • Green Tiger Program
  • Green Chapter Program
  • Marketing and Communications
  • Outreach and Engagement

Regularly attend Sustain Mizzou General Meetings.

Meet bi-weekly and support the leadership team to plan events.

Meet occasionally with the staff Sustainability Coordinator.

Work proactively to plan a robust, engaging, and educational event calendar, promote student participation, track attendance/impact, and generally maintain and assess high-quality signature programs in Sustain Mizzou.

Participate actively in the full array of Sustain Mizzou programming and outreach, being an ambassador for the program and creating community for sustainability advocates across campus.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$15.25 per hour, paid on a biweekly basis

Shift

Average number of hours per week: 1-3 hours

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri. Enrollment in the summer session is not required if the student was enrolled in the Spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the Fall semester.

Selection is contingent upon results of a review with the Office of Institutional Equity, Office of Student Accountability & Support, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, previous MU appointment history, and reference checks.

Preferred Qualifications

Passion for environmental leadership and sustainability

Previous student leader experience

Previous involvement in Sustain Mizzou
