    Responsibilities

    The Surgical Technologist assists as a member of the surgical team who works with the surgeon, registered nurse, and anesthesiologist delivering direct patient care before, during and after surgery. The technologist functions as an instrument assistant and may also function as a circulating assistant under supervision of a registered nurse.

    Qualifications

    Education

    Required: Graduate of a recognized surgical technologist program

    Experience

    Preferred: 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience

    Licensure/Certification/Registration

    Required: Association of Surgical Technologists (AST), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA). Required to main active certification.
