Job Overview

Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist in the Delivery Room at our Fairview Ridges Hospital located in Burnsville, MN.

As a Surgical Technologist, you'll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You'll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room.T

This is a casual opening (0.01 FTE), meaning there are no guaranteed /scheduled shifts, and this role is not eligible for benefits.

About our OR at Ridges:

• Our 150-bed community-based hospital currently has 11 OR Rooms, averaging over 7,500 cases a year.
• Our OR specializes in areas including: Spine, Ortho, OB-GYN, General, ENT, Plastic, Urology, and Da Vinci.
• Our call response time is 30 minutes and it is a weekend
• Increased flexibility! Limited Call schedule (1 out of 6 weekends)

As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for:

• Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items.
• Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
• Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens.
• Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments.
• Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment.
• Modifying clinical interventions based on population served.
• Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking.
• Anticipating the surgeon's needs.
• Following appropriate action in emergency situations.

Required Qualifications:

• Complete one of the following by hire date:

• Military Surgical Assistant; OR

• LPN (licensed in MN) Surgical Assistant; OR

• Surgical Technologist training

• Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire
• 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience

Other Required Skills:

• Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions.

Desired Skills:

• Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations.
• Ability to work well under a team environment.
