    Job Overview: 
    AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking qualified Surgical Technologists to support the Department of Anesthesia and Operative Services at Madigan Army Medical Center. The Surgical Technologist works as part of the operating room team, preparing patients, instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies before surgery; assisting surgeons and nurses during procedures; maintaining sterile technique; and cleaning and resetting the OR afterward. 

    This position supports procedures ranging from routine surgeries to complex, high-risk, neurosurgical, thoracic, cardiovascular, orthopedic, and trauma cases. Candidates must be comfortable working with critically ill patients and responding quickly during surgical emergencies. 

    Duties:
    • Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.  
    • Maintain sterile and aseptic techniques throughout procedures.  
    • Prepare, position, and drape patients for surgery.  
    • Assist surgeons and the OR team during routine, complex, and trauma surgeries.  
    • Pass instruments and anticipate the surgeon’s needs.  
    • Perform required sponge, needle, sharp, and instrument counts.  
    • Respond quickly to surgical emergencies and patient-safety concerns.  
    Qualifications: 

    Education: Certificate required. Graduate of a Surgical Technology program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES, OR completion of formal U.S. Army, Navy, or Air Force training as a surgical technician, surgical technologist, or operating room technician. The PWS permits requests for education equivalency determinations. 

    Certification: Must possess one of the following: 

    • CST – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA); OR 
    • TS-C – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); OR 
    • Qualifying Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical/operating room technician. 
    BLS:Basic Life Support required in accordance with the base contract.

    Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience within the last 2 years as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician. 

    Schedule:
    Surgical Technologists work rotating 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts. 

    Potential duty hours include: 

    • Day: 0645–1515 
    • Day: 0845–1715 
    • Day: 1045–1915 
    • Extended Day: 0645–1715 
    • Extended Day: 0645–1915 
    • Evening: 1445–2315 
    • Night: 2245–0715 
    • Night: 1845–0715 
    • Weekend Day: 0700–1900 
    • Weekend Night: 1900–0700 
    A 30-minute unpaid mandatory meal break is provided during the shift.

    Additional Requirements:
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident with valid documentation. 
    • Must satisfy required occupational health, physical examination, TB screening, immunization, and annual vaccination requirements. 
    • Must complete applicable DHA/MTF security, background, access, and mandatory training requirements. 
    • Must maintain professional appearance and comply with infection-control and PPE requirements. Government provides daily uniforms and required PPE.
    Compensation: $34.00 - $38.00 per hour
