    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate from a Surgical Technology program accredited by the committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or another avenue of entry.

    Licensure: Certified Surgical Technologist Certification required as evidenced by NBSTA OR a graduate from a Surgical Technology program with a written contract agreement of passing the Certification test within six months of hire OR 20 (twenty) years of experience as a validated OR Tech/Surgical Technologist required. CPR required.

    Experience: 0-3 years experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist

    Skills: Manual dexterity to handle multitude of OR instruments. Ability to obtain and interpret pertinent information in terms of the patients’ needs that are age appropriate. Ability to select proper instrumentation/supplies appropriate for age group of patient served.

    PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS

    Works in surgical suite under aseptic conditions and cool temperatures. Exposure to hazards found in surgical areas. Requires call duty and ability to work flexible schedule. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires working under stressful conditions with ability to adapt to rapid turnover of patient census.
