Position Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (Surgical Tech)
Location: Bethesda, MD 20892
Pay range: $58 - 62/hr.
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks with possible extension
Shift: 40 hours weekly, Monday - Friday, 7 AM - 03:30 PM
On-Call Requirement: Intermittent on-call coverage approximately 9 - 12 times per month, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Overview: Seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist (Surgical Tech) to join an acute care hospital in Bethesda, MD. The ideal candidate will have recent operating room experience in an acute care hospital setting and be skilled in assisting surgical teams, maintaining a sterile field, and ensuring patient safety throughout surgical procedures. The Surgical Technologist will work closely with surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesiology professionals, and other members of the surgical team to provide safe and efficient perioperative care.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures by ensuring the availability of required instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Set up and maintain sterile fields in accordance with established infection prevention protocols.
- Assist surgeons and other surgical team members during procedures by providing instruments, supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Perform surgical counts of sponges, needles, instruments, and other items in collaboration with the surgical team.
- Ensure proper handling, care, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Follow established protocols for aseptic technique, sterilization, and infection control.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly during procedures.
- Assist with patient positioning and preparation for surgery as directed by the clinical team.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with hospital policies and safety standards.
- Respond to on-call assignments as required, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2-3 years of recent operating room experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute care hospital setting.
- Certification: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Credential: Current NBSTSA certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), as required by the facility.
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques, surgical instrumentation, and operating room procedures.
