Description
The Surgical Technician Operating Room (OR) position focuses on supporting surgeons and the surgical team by preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile environment, and assisting during pediatric surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and set up the operating room with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Maintain a sterile surgical field throughout procedures.
Assist surgeons by passing instruments and supplies during surgery.
Review patient, physician, and procedure requirements to ensure the correct equipment and supplies are available.
Handle, label, and manage surgical specimens.
Perform room turnover, restocking, and cleaning between procedures.
Maintain and protect surgical instruments from damage.
Update and maintain physician preference cards.
Serve as a preceptor for surgical technology students and assist with staff orientation.
Perform other duties as assigned to support perioperative services.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification..
Required Skills
Knowledge of sterile technique and infection prevention.
Strong understanding of surgical instruments and equipment.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced operating room.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
