Surgical Technician First Assistant

Duties:
Positions patient to give best exposure for surgical procedure, using stabilizing equipment when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
Provide visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, including manipulation of tissue and materials , retraction, sponging, suctioning and irrigation
Utilizes appropriate technique to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis
Assists with body pane closures, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems
Assist in room clean up and the removal of soiled case cart , supplies and trash from OR room as needed at the completion of surgical case.
Participates as a surgical team member in preparation of the surgical suite according to surgeon's preference cards with appropriate instruments, resources and supplies.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Education:
Required credentials:
BLS provider credentialed from the AHA obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card will be accepted upon hire but renewal must be a BLS provider card from AHA

Prefered Credentials:
Surgical Assistant credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
High School Dimploma / GED with 2 years of experience or Associates degree or Technical degree required.

Schedule Notes:
13 week contract REQUIRED: BLS provider certification from AHA, NBSTSA CSFA certification, Proficiency in closing total joints and/or doing bedside for robotics cases, and one of the below education requirements: High School Diploma plus two years of experience GED plus two years of experience Associates Degree Technical Degree Can accept RNFA candidates as well - connect with Alex directly on needed Bill Rate prior to submission STFA candidates are preferred due to their ability to scrub cases if floated Workers will be expected to float to areas of equal or lesser acuity if requested to avoid shift cancellations.
This may include scrubbing cases. (If worker is an RNFA they would be expected to float to OR Circulator position) 5x8s or 4x10s available, Mon- Fri, 6:20am earliest start No weekend coverage needed - no overnight call required May need to work past scheduled shift end to complete cases.
Potential to flex off hours later in the week to compensate if desired and procedure volume allows.
