The Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting the surgical team in providing safe and effective patient care in the operating room. This role involves preparing and maintaining surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment, and scrubbing for a variety of surgical procedures. Job Description:
The Surgical Technologist is responsible for assisting the surgical team in providing safe and effective patient care in the operating room. This role involves preparing and maintaining surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment, and scrubbing for a variety of surgical procedures. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong attention to detail, knowledge of sterile techniques, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room by arranging surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies before procedures.
- Scrub for a variety of surgical cases and assist surgeons and other members of the surgical team as needed.
- Maintain a sterile field and follow established infection prevention and aseptic techniques.
- Ensure surgical instruments and equipment are properly assembled, maintained, and ready for use.
- Monitor the operating room environment to support safe and effective patient care.
- Assist with patient positioning and other preoperative preparations as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the operating room.
- Participate in rotating on-call coverage as required.
- Follow established hospital policies, safety standards, and surgical protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Surgical Technologist license, as required by the state of practice.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS/CPR certification required upon hire.
- Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile techniques, and operating room procedures.
- Ability to scrub for a variety of surgical cases.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and participate in rotating on-call coverage.
