    Job Summary

    The Surgical Services Lead is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered perioperative care. This role ensures the operational and fiscal management of surgical services, including preadmission, preoperative, intraoperative, post-anesthesia care, gastrointestinal services, sterile processing, anesthesia, and pain management. The Surgical Services Lead collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, drives performance improvement initiatives, and supports compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

    Essential Functions

    • Leads the daily operations of the surgical services department, ensuring alignment with organizational mission, vision, and values.
    • Oversees the delivery of perioperative care, verifying the availability of personnel, equipment, and supplies to meet patient and procedural needs.
    • Assists in evaluating perioperative practices, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing strategies to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
    • Provides guidance, support, and mentorship to surgical services personnel, fostering professional development and accountability.
    • Collaborates with perioperative management and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement performance improvement initiatives.
    • Analyzes data related to quality improvement projects, utilizing findings to inform decision-making and promote best practices.
    • Participates in the recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation of perioperative personnel.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
    • Complies with all policies and standards.

    Qualifications

    • 3-5 years of experience in progressive perioperative or surgical services required
    • 2-4 years of progressive experience in healthcare management with increasing levels of responsibility and authority required

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • In-depth knowledge of perioperative care processes, surgical services operations, and regulatory standards.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor and support personnel.
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams.
    • Proficiency in data analysis and quality improvement methodologies.
    • Commitment to maintaining patient privacy, confidentiality, and advocacy.

    Licenses and Certifications

    • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
    • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
    • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
    • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support required
    • CNOR - Certified Operating Room Nurse preferred
