Location: Onsite - West Bloomfield, MI

• Afternoons 2p-10:30p

• Cert: CRCST and BLS
• Must have: DaVinci or Laparoscopic/Robotic experience
• Schedule: M-F, 2:00pm - 10:30pm and every 3rd weekend

Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Coordinator/Manager/Director, the Central Service Technician cleans, inspects, assembles, packages, disinfects, and sterilizes all surgical products used to support physicians and the surgical team in inpatient and outpatient departments, Operating Room, Emergency Room, Delivery Room, and satellite locations. Documents and monitors sterilization processes and ensures all monitoring methods comply with established standards. Supports various departments by anticipating instrumentation needs, preparing procedure-specific case carts, managing supplies, and coordinating with surgical specialty teams to ensure supplies, equipment, instruments, and implants are available when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, assemble, package, disinfect, and sterilize surgical products.
• Support physicians and surgical teams in inpatient, outpatient, Operating Room, Emergency Room, Delivery Room, and satellite departments.
• Document and monitor sterilization processes in assigned areas, including steam, ETOH, Sterrad, and high-level disinfectants.
• Ensure all sterilization monitoring methods comply with established standards.
• Supply the needs of various departments requiring Central Service support.
• Properly meet and anticipate instrumentation needs for pending cases.
• Assemble procedure-specific case carts according to requirements.
• Receive, unpack, shelve, and stock supplies.
• Maintain appropriate par levels.
• Apply sterile supply management principles and rotate sterile supplies appropriately.
• Work with surgical specialty teams to ensure supplies for each patient are available when needed.
• Proactively coordinate preparation of case carts according to the surgeon's preference card.
• Ensure case carts contain the required supplies, equipment, instruments, and implants for each patient.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.

Qualifications

Required

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience.
• Must have DaVinci or Laparoscopic/Robotic experience.
• Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and hospital personnel.
• Computer skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

• Central Service Certification.
• CRCST certification.
• BLS certification.

Working Conditions

Position may be based in a hospital or ambulatory/mobile imaging setting. Exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and infectious diseases is possible with appropriate safety precautions. Position may require assisting with patient transfers and moving equipment.
