The Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation is seeking an experienced Surgical Physician Assistant to join our Association of South Bay Surgeons Group (https://southbaysurgeons.com/). The Surgical Physician Assistant plays a crucial role in Cedars-Sinais commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services efficiently. Working in collaboration, with our physicians and staff, the Surgical Physician Assistant will share responsibility for the well-being of our patients.

Our Cedars-Sinai South Bay Surgeons Group offers the complete spectrum of general, oncologic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgical procedures for our patients. Our mission is to provide compassionate and comprehensive surgical care to the community. Our Surgical Physician Assistant will work in a multi-specialty group of fourteen (14) physicians covering advanced general surgery, surgical weight loss, breast cancer, surgical oncology and hepatobiliary. Along with two (2) other Surgical PA's, you will split abnormal labs (reviewing, discussing with physicians, ordering, etc).

Key Responsibilities

• In clinic, will conducting post ops and follow-ups for the general surgeons. • Serve as a first assist in the operating room at least 3 days a week performing lumps and bumps removals, closing incisions, tractions, etc. • Will assist in laparoscopic and robotic procedures. • Gathering comprehensive medical data, including health history, and analyzing physical examination results. • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as urine, blood tests, imaging, and assessing deviations from normal. • Perform pre-op procedures and flag physician in-charge when potential issues arise during pre-op assessment. • Perform non-surgical weight loss management under the direction of physician. • Perform vitamin monitoring and assist with vitamin supplementation education. • Performing therapeutic procedures such as bladder catheterization, instillation of bladder medications, postoperative wound care, pelvic floor biofeedback, transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation, bladder Botox injections, and other duties within the scope of practice. • Developing and implementing patient management plans, documenting consult notes, progress notes, and contributing to continuity of care. • Educating and advising patients on adhering to prescribed therapeutic regimens. • Collaborating with other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care. • Assisting in triaging in-basket messages, including patient referrals, and communicating with pre- and post-procedure patients about their care. • Performing other assigned duties.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements: Master's degree in physician assistant studies accredited by ARC-PA.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements: Certification by the National Commission of Physician Assistants. Drug enforcement Administration (DEA) Physician Assistant (PA) licensure by the State of California. Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years' experience will be required. Laparoscopic and robotic experience strongly preferred. Prior Surgical PA in clinical areas such as general surgery, reconstructive surgery, or other surgical specialties is required.

Note: This group works out of two (2) hospitals, Little Company of Mary Torrance and Torrance Memorial Hospital.
