Location: Phoenix, AZ 
Employment Type: Full-Time 
 Experience Required: 3+ years of dental assisting experience; periodontal or surgical experience strongly preferred

We are a growing, patient-focused solo provider with periodontal practice dedicated to providing exceptional surgical care and an outstanding patient experience. We work closely with referring dentists and their teams to provide comprehensive periodontal and implant-related treatment. 


We are looking for an experienced, compassionate, and highly motivated Surgical Dental Assistant to join our team and play an important role in both clinical care and the overall patient experience.

The ideal candidate is confident in assisting with periodontal and surgical procedures, anticipates the doctor’s needs, maintains excellent clinical standards, and genuinely enjoys working with patients. Responsibilities
 


Clinical & Surgical 
Assist the periodontist during periodontal, implant, and surgical procedures 
Prepare treatment rooms, surgical trays, instruments, and materials 
Maintain strict infection-control and sterilization protocols 
Take quality dental radiographs and CBCT scans 
Assist with anesthesia and surgical procedures 
Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and equipment 
Provide post-operative instructions and patient education 
Monitor and support patients throughout surgical procedures 
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation 
Ensure operatories are properly stocked and prepared for each procedure 


Patient Experience 
Welcome and establish rapport with patients 
. Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after treatment 
Clearly communicate post-operative instructions 
Anticipate patient needs and provide compassionate care 
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times 


Team & Practice Support 
Work closely with the periodontist and front-office team to ensure smooth patient flow 
Communicate effectively with referring dental offices when appropriate 
Help maintain an organized, efficient clinical environment 
Participate in team meetings and ongoing training 
Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through consistently 
Contribute to a positive, respectful, team-oriented culture 



What We’re Looking For
 


Required: 


Minimum 3 years of dental assisting experience 
Strong clinical and organizational skills 
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
Ability to anticipate the doctor’s needs during procedures 
Strong understanding of infection control and sterilization 
Professional appearance and demeanor 
Reliable, punctual, and accountable 
Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment 
Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain 



Preferred



Periodontal or oral surgery assisting experience 
Experience assisting with dental implants 
Experience with IV sedation; DANCE certification  
Familiarity with periodontal charting and dental imaging 
Experience working in a referral-based specialty practice
