    Surgery Coordinator
    Location: Laguna Hills / Mission Viejo, CA
    Position Type: Temporary/Temp-to-Hire
    Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
    Assignment Length: Approximately 3-4 months, possibly longer

    Support a well-established, highly regarded surgical practice serving Orange County for over 30 years. This team of skilled general, vascular, and trauma surgeons has performed tens of thousands of surgeries and holds surgical privileges at some of the area's top hospitals and outpatient surgical centers.

    As Surgery Coordinator, you'll play a critical behind-the-scenes role in making sure every patient arrives fully prepared for their procedure. You'll be the connective thread between physicians, hospitals, labs, imaging centers, and patients, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks before surgery day. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on organization, detail, and keeping multiple moving pieces on track.

    What You'll Do

    • Coordinate all preoperative requirements for patients scheduled for surgery
    • Obtain and review lab results, diagnostic testing, imaging reports, and physician clearances
    • Communicate with primary care providers, specialists, hospitals, and diagnostic facilities to gather outstanding documentation
    • Track preoperative requirements and follow up on missing records to keep everything on schedule
    • Verify all documentation meets surgeon and facility requirements ahead of surgery
    • Maintain accurate, organized patient records within the EMR system
    • Keep patients informed on any outstanding requirements and provide clear instructions
    • Partner with surgical schedulers, physicians, and clinical staff to resolve issues that could delay a procedure
    • Document all communications and follow-up activity per policy
    • Maintain HIPAA compliance and uphold all applicable privacy standards

    What We're Looking For

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or medical administrative certification preferred
    • 1-2 years of experience in a medical office, surgery center, hospital, or specialty practice preferred
    • Experience coordinating surgical cases or preoperative documentation highly desirable
    • Familiarity with medical terminology, lab testing, diagnostic imaging, and surgical clearance requirements
    • Experience with EMR systems
    • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage professionally with patients and healthcare providers
    • Detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize multiple cases while meeting deadlines
