    Support Technician Specialist

    Purpose of the position
    The Supports Specialist works in a team environment to assist with administrative tasks and functions.    
     
    Responsibilities and Duties
    • Performs document processing, data entry, attaching files in computer programs, faxing, filing, and administrative support for the Waiver/ Care Management programs and any other tasks assigned.
    • Communicate with community partners via phone, mail, email, fax, and Vendor View Messages.
    • Receive incoming electronic faxes and distribute to intended recipients.
    • Runs reports, analyzes data and provides the reports to manager for follow-up.
    • Work closely with the supports coordinators to ensure compliance on required documentation for case records.
    • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and meet high proficiency standards, handle confidential information in a private and professional manner.
    • Responding to customer queries, complaints, and requests via phone, and email.
    • Assist in incoming calls, direct calls, answering general inquiries, and directing messages to staff members.
    • Be a referral source to our clients or potential clients.
    • Office maintenance and other miscellaneous office tasks as needed.
    • Attend meetings, trainings and webinars as scheduled.
    • Maintain high quality files and related paperwork in a manner consistent with State, Federal, and Agency standards/policy/procedure/practice/guidelines.
    • Exhibit strong participant advocacy, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Demonstrate excellent communication, telephone, and teamwork skills.
    • Assist with setting up program services with service providers based on Support Coordinators recommendations and assessments, including ongoing follow-up as needed.
    • Review messages through the Vendor View Messaging system and Connect to Care.
    • Assist with paperwork or forms as requested by management.
    • Obtain paperwork required to maintain complete case records, as requested by management.
    • Input and edit service authorizations as needed to maintain accurate case files through designated software programs.
    • Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal assistance programs and MI Choice/Care Management eligibility criteria.
    • Be willing and able to travel within all ten counties of the region (and at times out of region) in reliable transportation.
     
    Requirements for this position
    • This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. 
    • At least two years’ experience in customer service in a private industry or public grant funded programs such as those under the Older Americans Act.
    •  Experience in word processing is required.  Familiarity with record keeping and filing systems is desirable. 
    • Experience with Excel is required.
    • Knowledge of community organizations serving the elderly and/or disabled is preferred.
    • Is accurate, conscientious and flexible with attention to detail. 
    • Is familiar with computer programs-Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Adobe, etc.
    • Administrative, telephone (switchboard), and excellent interpersonal skills inclusive of proper grammar to meet the demands of this position. 
    • Accepts direction, is well organized, and is able meet deadlines. 
    • Position requires excellent customer service skills. 
    • Willingness to work in a team environment as well as independently.
