Based in Hilo and Kona, we pride ourselves on creating a warm, supportive community where every individual is empowered to thrive.Position: Support Specialist - Learning CenterIn this role, the right candidate will support our program participants both at the Learning Center and out in the community in Kailua-Kona, providing direct support services and transportation. This position combines two essential functions: assisting with daily Learning Center programming and driving participants to and from the center as well as to community activities. While this role is currently part-time, there are opportunities to increase hours for candidates seeking full-time work. What You'll Do / Day-to-DayDirect Support at the Learning CenterProvide person-centered, direct support to participants throughout daily Learning Center programming.Support participants with daily living tasks and routines, tailored to individual goals, preferences, and service plans.Assist with skill-building and personal development to support participants' progress toward their goals.Encourage and support participation in community, recreational, educational, and social activities, promoting inclusion and independence.Support communication and social interaction with peers at the Learning Center.Build positive, respectful relationships and maintain a consistent, compassionate presence, responding to each participant's needs with patience and dignity.Documentation & Team CommunicationComplete case notes and required documentation before the end of each shift.Track participant progress and communicate updates with the team.Follow all organizational policies, procedures, and care plans.TransportationSafely transport participants to and from the Learning Center and community-based activities.Load and unload participants and any needed equipment or cargo, ensuring safety and comfort throughout.Maintain accurate records of pickups, drop-offs, and mileage.Monitor and report any vehicle maintenance needs, and maintain a clean driving record and well-maintained vehicle.Track fuel, maintenance, and vehicle inspection/registration.QualificationsNo experience?
