About the Job: Welcome to the City of Wylie Fire Rescue supplemental questionnaire. Before you begin, please understand that the Support Services Coordinator position is the absolute cornerstone of our department's logistical operations, and this is a complex, dynamic job. This role is tailored for an individual with prior Fire Service experience and deep, specialized knowledge of fire department equipment, tools, logistics, and heavy apparatus. Additionally, this position requires compliance with complex NFPA standards and Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) rules and regulations regarding gear, equipment safety, and record-keeping; while we realize an applicant may not have mastered all of these specialized rules on day one, you must be highly adaptable and fully willing and able to learn them quickly. While your standard schedule is Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, this role carries a heavy workload that demands high-level multitasking, strict task management, and flawless organization. You will spend most of your hours at a desk managing complex inventory intake, rigorous equipment tracking, and records databases, while also balancing quote requests, purchase requisitions, purchase tracking through delivery, payment finalization, and strict management of assigned budget line items. Beyond the desk, you will oversee our fleet management and gear maintenance, which requires you to build an intuitive knowledge of specialized vendors and occasionally get hands-on to run diagnostics or troubleshoot a variety of problems with the departments equipment. You will also handle frequent after-hours phone calls and texts and may be required to work late or come in on weekends when operational emergencies or fleet repairs demand it. We are seeking a highly resilient, technically minded professional who can independently drive our logistics forward. Success in this position requires a solid foundation in organizational operations or logistics and the ability to rapidly learn and apply strict regulatory requirements. Given the roles complexity and pace, candidates should be prepared to operate in a highly structured, compliance-driven environment and quickly become proficient in applicable regulations and procedures.
