Summary:
The High School Athletic School Support Assistant serves as an assistant to the High School Athletic Director and is responsible for completing related clerical work. The Athletic Assistant serves as a resource to staff, students, families, and the community concerning general administrative policies and procedures regarding all high school athletic events and activities.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary school athletics contact for district staff, school staff, and community members. Support the Athletic Director in coordinating athletic and extracurricular events by scheduling games and events; coordinating event workers, officials, law enforcement, and transportation; reserving facilities; and submitting contracts for non-league events. Provide clerical and administrative support for daily office operations, including maintaining calendars; preparing and distributing event communications; updating the website; responding to calls and emails; ordering supplies and uniforms; generating work orders; distributing mail; tracking physical education waivers; and maintaining student records in the Student Information System.
- Coordinate athletic registrations by processing athletic registrations and verifying required documentation. Submit job requisitions and support the hiring and onboarding of coaches, activity sponsors, and intramural staff, including ensuring compliance with CHSAA hiring and compliance requirements. Compile and submit required CHSAA, district, and state reports related to athletic eligibility, equity, classifications, and school funding.
- Provide support for tournaments and awards banquet logistics, including ordering and engraving trophies, preparing awards and certificates, securing locations, coordinating schedules, arranging supplies and refreshments, and assisting with out-of-town travel.
- Collect athletic and extracurricular fees and prepare deposits for the school treasurer. Process billing statements, payments, athletic and event timesheets, and payments to officials, and assist the school Athletic Director with routine budget tracking.
- Provide backup support in the health room, as directed by building administration, including assisting sick or injured students, maintaining health records, administering delegated medications, preparing first aid kits and medications for field trips, contacting parents or emergency services, and completing required accident documentation.
- Support building security and front office operations by monitoring the main entrance, greeting authorized visitors in accordance with district procedures, and assisting students, staff, families, and community members with routine school-related inquiries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized courses in computer applications.
- Minimum of two years experience in general office occupations and computer experience.
- Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
- Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
Preferred:
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
- Ability to make decisions based on school guidelines.

Salary Information:
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
- Pay range listed above is for employees newly hired to BVSD or current BVSD employees that are new to the employee group (existing employees currently in this unit please refer to the pay range on the appropriate salary schedule).
