    Let's do this! Let's change the world! In this vital role, you will lead integrated planning and supply chain systems capability at the Amgen North Carolina (ANC) site. You will strengthen how Planning and Procurement teams use SAP and Kinaxis RapidResponse to deliver a connected, signal-driven supply chain that reliably supports manufacturing and patients.

    The Supply Chain Manager - Planning & Systems reports to the Director of Supply Chain. This role provides dual accountability for core supply planning and procurement planning capabilities, with a focus on harmonizing planning processes, data, and decision-making across the teams in alignment with Amgen's monthly planning cycle.

    This role partners closely with Site Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Digital and Technology, and the broader network to improve end-to-end planning visibility, execution discipline, and system adoption. The successful candidate will reduce reliance on manual workarounds by establishing clear signals, standardized processes, and fit-for-purpose system solutions in SAP and RapidResponse. This role will also require close collaboration with site the DTI team for system enhancements as required. As the role evolves, additional accountability will be added based on business needs.

    Responsibilities:

    Lead Integrated Planning and Systems Enablement

    • Lead harmonization of Planning and Procurement planning processes, routines, and responsibilities to support a single, connected site planning approach.
    • Establish and sustain alignment to Amgen's monthly planning cycle, including inputs, assumptions, handoffs, governance, and escalation pathways.
    • Own site planning capability in SAP and Kinaxis RapidResponse, ensuring systems are configured, maintained, and used effectively to support supply, materials, and procurement decisions.
    • Improve planning data quality, master data governance, and signal integrity so teams can make timely, fact-based decisions with confidence.
    • Identify, prioritize, and lead improvements that eliminate manual work, reduce duplicate effort, and increase automation across planning and procurement workflows.
    • Develop meaningful performance metrics and visual management to monitor plan adherence, material availability, inventory health, capacity constraints, and execution risks.
    • Partner with functional leaders to translate site needs into scalable system, process, and reporting requirements; coordinate with network and Digital and Technology teams on solution delivery.
    • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring planning, material, and system execution issues; ensure improvements are embedded in standard work.
    • Provide clear communication of planning performance, emerging risks, decisions, and required actions to the Director of Supply Chain and cross-functional stakeholders.

    Build Capability and Drive Change

    • Coach Planning and Procurement team members on planning fundamentals, SAP, RapidResponse, and effective use of system-driven signals.
    • Create and maintain standardized work instructions, training materials, and governance routines that enable consistent, sustainable execution.
    • Foster a continuous-improvement culture that values data integrity, end-to-end accountability, and simplification of work.
    • Support talent development and cross-functional capability building across the Supply Chain organization.
    • Build productive relationships across the site and network, creating shared ownership for planning performance and systems adoption.

    Footprint / Scope of Responsibility

    Provide site-level leadership for integrated supply planning and procurement planning capabilities, including process harmonization, systems adoption, and planning governance.

    Serve as the primary business owner for SAP and RapidResponse planning capabilities at ANC, partnering with network and Digital and Technology teams as needed.

    Drive reliable, compliant planning execution through effective data management, standard work, and disciplined use of planning systems.

    Influence cross-functional decisions that affect material availability, inventory, capacity, and manufacturing continuity.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Doctorate degree
    • Or
    • Master's degree and 2 years of Supply Chain, Planning, Procurement, Operations, Information Systems, or related experience
    • Or
    • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Supply Chain, Planning, Procurement, Operations, Information Systems, or related experience
    • Or
    • Associate's degree and 8 years of Supply Chain, Planning, Procurement, Operations, Information Systems, or related experience; or High school diploma / GED and 10 years of related experience

    In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 2 years of experience working in teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources related to this role. Experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing, or other GMP-regulated environment.
    • Demonstrated experience leading integrated supply planning, material planning, procurement planning, or production planning processes.
    • Hands-on experience with SAP and Kinaxis RapidResponse, including planning master data, transactional execution, reporting, and troubleshooting.
    • Strong understanding of supply chain planning principles, planning signals, inventory management, and material flow.
    • Experience leading process harmonization, system implementation, digital enablement, or automation initiatives.
    • Ability to translate complex data into clear insights, decisions, and actions for cross-functional and leadership audiences.
    • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and build effective partnerships across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Digital and Technology.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
    • Experience establishing performance metrics, governance routines, and standard work to improve execution discipline.
    • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, compliance, and patient-focused operational excellence.
    • Ability to balance strategic capability building with hands-on support of day-to-day planning execution.

    The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
