Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead end-to-end supply chain operations within a custom automation and engineered-to-order manufacturing environment. This leadership role will oversee procurement, strategic sourcing, materials planning, inventory management, logistics, receiving, and stockroom operations.
You’ll lead a team of approximately six employees and partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, Finance, and key suppliers to ensure materials are available to meet project schedules while optimizing cost, quality, inventory, and supplier performance.
Job Duties:
- Develop and execute supply chain strategies that support business growth and successful project delivery.
- Lead procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier selection, negotiations, and purchasing activities.
- Manage materials planning and inventory to ensure critical components are available while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.
- Oversee inventory control, receiving, warehousing, and stockroom operations.
- Establish inventory programs including ABC classification, cycle counting, safety stock, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Develop forecasting and demand planning processes aligned with engineering releases and project schedules.
- Build strong supplier partnerships and improve performance through KPIs, scorecards, and business reviews.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including long lead times, supplier capacity, obsolescence, and global disruptions.
- Partner with Engineering and Project Management to improve sourcing strategies and ensure material availability aligns with project milestones.
- Collaborate with Finance to improve working capital, inventory turns, forecasting, and purchasing controls.
- Identify cost savings through supplier negotiations, sourcing strategies, purchasing standardization, and value engineering.
- Drive Lean and continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
- Develop KPIs and reporting to monitor supplier performance, inventory health, delivery, savings, and operational efficiency.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of buyers, planners, inventory professionals, and stockroom personnel.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, materials management, or purchasing within manufacturing, custom automation, capital equipment, or industrial machinery.
- Previous experience leading procurement, inventory, warehouse, or supply chain teams.
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and supply chain planning methodologies.
- Proven experience with strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, contracts, and cost reduction.
- Demonstrated success improving inventory performance, working capital, and procurement processes.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and inventory optimization.
