Teslas Supplier Industrialization Megapack BESS Deployment Team Responsibilities

Teslas Supplier Industrialization Megapack BESS Deployment team is responsible for critical substation power equipment and top-level assembly processes related to development and qualification activities with suppliers. This position involves communicating well with internal and external teams traveling to suppliers in different regions and on-the-spot critical decision making. The goal is delivering on time quantities of high-quality power equipment to enable extremely rapid deployment of Megapack BESS project locations.

Analyzing Category Spend and Industry Trends

Analyze the category spend, what, where, who, and develop a nuanced understanding of the commodity landscape to forecast industry trends and gauge emerging competitive forces. Identify buyer and supplier power changes within core materials markets and use industry dynamics to Teslas advantage.

Evaluating the Existing Supply Base

Evaluate the existing supply base and identify new high-potential suppliers globally. Minimize single-sourced suppliers and create supplier competition. Identify supplier capability and ensure the supply base can support Teslas growth.

Working with Suppliers

Effectively work with suppliers to negotiate optimal terms for sourcing. Understand the trade-offs between cost, volume, and quality to strike agreements that meet Teslas performance criteria and secure long-term supply continuity.

Collaborating Across the Organization

Collaborate across the Tesla organization to ensure business objectives are met. Includes the ability to synthesize and communicate findings to senior leaders rapidly and to identify potential supply issues that can affect product strategy actively.

Contract Management Experience

Contract management experience to draft, review, and assess RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, NDAs, Master Service Agreements (MSA), Statement of Work (SOW), and formal communication before the business initiates and holds parties accountable.

Developing Key Performance Measures

Develop key performance measures for chosen suppliers and negotiate on multiple variables to award longer-term strategic contracts that result in significant cost reduction and improved service levels.

Performing Value Analysis

Perform value analysis for the final selection of suppliers, including value-added benefits and total cost of ownership. Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models.

Requirements

Bachelors Degree in Business Supply Chain Engineering or equivalent experience. 3 years of related experience in procurement consulting, automotive, or tech. Masters or MBA is a plus.

Ability to Multi-Task and Prioritize

Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in an extremely fast-paced environment. Ability to make quick decisions with 80% information.

Willingness to Operate in a Dynamic Environment

Willingness to operate in a dynamic environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office Applications

Proficient with Microsoft Windows and Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
