Job Title: Supply Chain Engineer

Job Description

The Supply Chain Engineer supports supplier facilities in prioritizing material shipments to keep production lines running smoothly. This role leads Control Tower activities, collaborating with logistics and production teams across multiple manufacturing and service sites, as well as suppliers and buyers, to determine what materials should be shipped to each facility and when. The Supply Chain Engineer creates and maintains detailed Excel-based views of material needs by facility and by week, highlighting areas of risk and enabling proactive decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Control Tower activities to coordinate material shipments across multiple production and service facilities, suppliers, and buyers.
  • Help suppliers prioritize facility needs so that material is shipped in time to keep production lines operating without interruption.
  • Study production methods, cycle times, and related operations to establish standard shipment patterns and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Interpret supply chain demand data and formulas, and collaborate with leadership to determine optimal shipping plans.
  • Review logs, product processing sheets, and specification documents to verify that records comply with quality assurance specifications.
  • Assist in planning work assignments in line with performance expectations, production schedules, and anticipated delays or constraints.
  • Prepare charts, graphs, and diagrams to clearly illustrate workflow, material coverage, and adherence to supply chain plans.
  • Maintain and update Excel files showing material needs by facility and by week, and use these tools to highlight risk areas and recommend corrective actions.
  • Communicate findings, risks, and recommendations clearly to cross-functional stakeholders using both verbal and written communication.
  • Collaborate closely with supply chain, logistics, and production teams to ensure alignment between demand, capacity, and shipment priorities.

Essential Skills

  • 2-4 years of experience in supply chain, supply chain management, or logistics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret demand data and supply chain formulas.
  • Moderate to high proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, data manipulation, and creation of analytical views.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work as a collaborative team player while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and prioritizing work assignments in alignment with production schedules and operational constraints.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in supply chain management, logistics, engineering, business, or a related field.
  • Experience working within a large manufacturing or service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to create charts, graphs, and diagrams to visualize workflow, material coverage, and adherence to plan.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes and documentation review, including logs and specification sheets.
  • Creativity in developing process improvements and shipment strategies to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.

Work Environment

This role operates in a dynamic supply chain environment that supports multiple production and service facilities. The Supply Chain Engineer primarily works in an office setting, using Microsoft Excel and other standard business tools to analyze data, prepare reports, and communicate shipment priorities. The position involves regular collaboration with logistics, production, and purchasing teams, as well as frequent coordination with supplier contacts. Work hours generally follow standard business schedules, with occasional flexibility needed to respond to urgent material or production issues. This is a Contract position based out of Peoria, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
