Supplier Quality Representative (SQR) – Houston/Beasley, TX
Houston/Beasley, TX Up to 90% Travel 40 Hours per Week | Overtime as Approved 1 Year Contract (Ongoing)
We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Representative (SQR) to perform onsite quality surveillance and inspections at a supplier fabrication facility. This position will support the Lead SQR with daily inspections, testing oversight, and quality documentation review, primarily focusing on Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers (ACHE).
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality surveillance of welding, fabrication, fit-up, and dimensional inspections.
- Witness hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing.
- Monitor NDE/NDT activities and verify compliance with applicable standards.
- Inspect surface preparation, painting, galvanizing, and protective coatings.
- Review Material Test Reports (MTRs), welding procedures, inspection reports, and quality documentation.
- Conduct final inspections and verify equipment meets project specifications.
- Identify and document nonconformances and verify corrective actions.
- Prepare daily surveillance reports and coordinate with supplier personnel and the Lead SQR.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes, quality standards, and project requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience in supplier quality surveillance, industrial fabrication inspection, or mechanical quality control.
- Strong background in welding/fabrication, NDE, pressure testing, and coating inspection.
- Experience with Air-Cooled Heat Exchangers, pressure vessels, piping, or similar industrial equipment preferred.
- Familiarity with ASME, AWS, API, and applicable coating standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, inspection test plans (ITPs), and technical documentation.
- Strong communication, reporting, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently in an industrial fabrication environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet background and facility access requirements.
Preferred Certifications
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- ASNT Level II (NDT)
- AMPP/NACE Coating Inspector
- Other relevant mechanical or quality inspection certifications
