Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer supports the quality of incoming supplier components by collecting and analyzing data, documenting nonconformances, and driving effective corrective actions. This role focuses on ensuring that supplier-provided parts meet quality standards, supporting quality investigations, and contributing to continuous improvement across the supply base.

Responsibilities

  • Gather detailed data for failed supplier components, including part numbers, descriptions, quantities, supplier and buyer information, purchase orders, and discrepancies.
  • Collect evidence related to nonconforming supplier components, such as photographs, test reports, inspection reports, and physical samples.
  • Create clear and accurate nonconformance reports that document issues, findings, and relevant supporting information.
  • Support supplier and internal corrective actions by collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers to address quality issues.
  • Participate actively in material review board activities to evaluate nonconforming materials and determine appropriate dispositions.
  • Conduct or support quality investigations to identify root causes of supplier-related issues and recommend effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Analyze quality data and trends to identify recurring issues, opportunities for improvement, and risks within the supplier base.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by applying quality systems knowledge and methodologies to enhance supplier performance.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to supplier quality issues, investigations, and corrective actions.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in supplier quality, quality assurance, or manufacturing quality.
  • Experience managing supplier corrective actions and leading or supporting quality investigations.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a structured approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and their application in a quality management system.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to perform data analysis and reporting to support decision-making and continuous improvement.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in quality engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience working with nonconformance reporting processes and documentation.
  • Familiarity with material review board processes and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to document findings and interact with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Attention to detail when gathering data, reviewing evidence, and preparing reports.

Work Environment

The Supplier Quality Engineer works in a professional office and manufacturing-support environment, collaborating closely with quality, engineering, supply chain, and supplier representatives. The role involves regular use of standard office software such as Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as interaction with quality documentation, test reports, and inspection records. The position may require occasional handling or review of physical samples of supplier components and participation in material review board meetings in conference rooms or production-adjacent areas. The work setting emphasizes accuracy, documentation, and cross-functional communication in support of a structured quality management system.

This is a Contract position based out of Riverside, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
