This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Supplemental Instructor - Physical Therapist Assistant who will be all-in on our mission and who provides instructional support to students enrolled in the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program through supplemental classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning experiences. Working collaboratively with program faculty, this position reinforces course content, promotes learner-centered instruction, and supports the development of clinical skills, critical thinking, and professional behaviors necessary for student success. The Supplemental Instructor assists in maintaining a safe, engaging, and effective learning environment while supporting program outcomes and accreditation standards.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required: Associate of Applied Science Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant.
Preferred: Bachelors Degree or higher in Physical Therapy or a related healthcare field.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Clinical experience as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapist in the area(s) being taught.
Preferred:
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
Required: Current Texas license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) or Physical Therapist (PT).

Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.
Pay grade 10 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee frequently stands, walks, bends, demonstrates patient handling techniques, and travels between classrooms, laboratories, and clinical settings. The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or move instructional materials, therapeutic equipment, and supplies up to twenty-five (25) pounds as needed.
Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and other program activities as needed.
Work Environment: This position operates in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical education environments. Responsibilities include providing hands-on instruction and demonstrations, utilizing instructional technology and standard office equipment, and collaborating closely with students, faculty, and healthcare professionals. The position requires flexibility to work independently and as part of an instructional team while supporting student learning in a dynamic healthcare education environment.
