Registered Nurse (RN) - HEDIS/Quality Data Abstraction

Remote (Regional Travel Required) | Temporary Contract Assignment (September - March)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) to support quality improvement initiatives through medical record retrieval, review, and abstraction activities. This role plays a critical part in collecting and validating data for multiple HEDIS and STARS quality measures.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to work independently, and comfortable collaborating with both clinical and administrative teams. While this is a remote position, regional travel is required to support medical record retrieval efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in Tennessee or a compact state
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong telephone etiquette and professional interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Working knowledge of Windows-based systems
• Ability to successfully complete required training and maintain performance expectations
• Valid driver"s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with HEDIS or supplemental data collection projects
• Experience performing medical record review and abstraction
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR)
• Experience with electronic data transfer processes

Key Responsibilities

• Retrieve, review, and abstract medical record data for multiple and complex HEDIS and STARS measures

• Accurately enter collected data into the organization"s quality program platform

• Conduct medical record reviews either:

• On-site at physician offices, or

• In a designated office environment

• Coordinate with clinical and non-clinical staff to schedule provider visits and facilitate record retrieval

• Represent the organization professionally while interacting with providers and healthcare staff

• Manage workload efficiently while meeting project deadlines and quality standards

• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable healthcare regulations and policies

Work Environment & Travel Requirements

• Remote contract assignment from September through March
• Travel within the assigned region is required for medical record retrieval activities
• Candidates must reside within two hours of Chattanooga, Tennessee
• Some overnight or extended travel may be required based on project needs

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Chattanooga, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.14 - $38.14/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
