    In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our Emerging Technologies -Solid Dosage Forms US facility in Durham, NC is a 194,000 square foot tableting and packaging facility that supports the production of our innovative oral treatments for patients with type 2 diabetes.     The Position

    Manage all of the shipping/receiving activities and material handling activities & material movements within the site, with an emphasis on timeliness & accuracy, continual improvement & compliance with cGMPs.

    Relationships

    Reports to Manager.

    Essential Functions

    • Manage receipt of all incoming materials to the site
    • Manage shipment of all materials from the site to all customers
    • Coordinate scheduling of incoming/outgoing shipments with couriers/transport companies
    • Manage flow of materials between the warehouse & production within site
    • Maintain & develop department procedures/SOP's according to cGMP's
    • Develop/track internal metrics to measure department performance
    • Implement corporate initiatives for shipping/receiving and material handling
    • Improve customer feedback through frequent communication with internal & external customers
    • Continually improve shipping/receiving and material handling processes
    • Supervise shipping & receiving personnel (promote employee development, review/evaluate/improve performance, etc.)
    • Implement cLEAN principles in all shipping/receiving functions; demonstrate a cLEAN mindset
    • Establish & maintain good & effective communication with all stakeholders
    • Resource allocation to provide an adequate level of production support
    • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties
    • Other duties as assigned

    Physical Requirements

    Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Ability to do close precision work with their hands. Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting and standing) 50% of the time. May require corrected vision to 20/25 based on role. May require colour vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials.

    Development Of People

    Supervisory. Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university required or an equivalent combination of education & experience
    • May consider an Associate's Degree or relevant field of study from an accredited university with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
    • May consider a High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
    • Experience with ERP/MRP systems required (SAP) required

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Minimum of three (3) years of shipping/receiving or material handling experience required, pharmaceutical industry preferred
    • Project Management experience a plus
    • Strong working knowledge of database management systems preferred
    • Professional import/export experience (e.g. certified freight forwarder) preferred
    • Excellent verbal & written communication skills; good presentation skills preferred
    • Proven process improvement & problem-solving skills (Green Belt certification preferred) preferred
    • Kanban / Lean manufacturing experience preferred
    • Knowledge of cGMP & FDA regulations a plus
    • Able to develop & manage action plans to achieve targets preferred
