Job Summary and Qualifications

The Trauma Supervisor is a nurse who is fundamental to the support of the trauma program, The role ensures oversight of the overall daily function of the Trauma Performance Improvement area and works in conjunction with the Trauma Program Director for the coordination of services required for the multi-disciplinary team, supporting Trauma Nurse Leads (TNL) daily work and managing schedules to ensure resources are available for the trauma patients. This position will participate in the trauma process improvement process case reviews and documentation, prepare monthly multidisciplinary trauma quality meeting minutes and presentations with the Trauma Program Director. Identifies opportunities for improvement and manages the performance improvement program. Assist in developing trauma protocols and guidelines with the Trauma Program Director and the Trauma Medical Director. Ensures that all guidelines and protocols are consistent with the care being provided. Strive to improve and maintain quality of patient care and clinical knowledge and performance of members of the trauma team. Leads in a way that inspires commitment to the vision/mission/values of the organization. Implements evidence-based employee engagement practices. Identifies development opportunities or training needs of individual employees and teams. Provides coaching, feedback, and training to improve performance. Responsible for meeting regulatory standards and complying with all mandatory reporting required by the trauma program, complying with corporate and hospital policy and procedures, managing patient information, promoting teamwork and positive customer service.

Essential Duties:

• Performance Improvement oversight, case review management, data analysis and reporting, loop closure management, audit and compliance monitoring, multidisciplinary collaboration. 
• Lead selected PI meetings independently. 
• Present PI reports to hospital leadership. 
• Develop annual PI goals and work plans. 
• Serve as acting TPM for PI functions during TPM absences.
• Education and performance improvement initiatives 
• Provides leadership in attaining and sustaining unparalleled patient experience. 
• Instills accountability for providing consistent, positive patient interactions that differentiate the organization as a healthcare leader. 
• Operational and clinical leadership for the trauma program by supervising trauma nursing personnel provide supervisory support to the Trauma Nurse Lead program. 
• Ensures trauma patients receive a continuum of optimal care within the context of the ACS Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient 2022 standards, the Florida Department of Health Trauma Center Standards and the HCA/CDRA Trauma Guidelines. 
• As needed, attendees sing-out with trauma physicians and participates in multi-disciplinary rounds to ensure patients receive all services needed.
• Provide support to Injury Prevention Outreach.
• In conjunction with the Trauma Program Director, acts as a liaison for the hospital and the trauma program with community, local, regional, and state agencies involved in the care of the trauma patient

What qualifications you will need:

• • Current Florida license as Registered Nurse or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions) 
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date 
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date 
  • Current Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date 
  • (RN) Registered Nurse
  • 3 years RN experience in Trauma, performance improvement, emergency services or critical care
  • TNCC-preferred
  • Master's Degree-preferred
