The Supervisor, Technical Operations Center is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of scheduled and live broadcast operations, ensuring transmission systems, equipment, and workflows operate reliably across studio, field, and remote environments. This role provides operational leadership, technical oversight, and timely resolution of broadcast issues to ensure continuity and quality of service.
Job Duties:
Basic Requirements:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in broadcast operations, transmission operations, technical operations, broadcast engineering, or a related television/media environment, including demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
Fluent English and Spanish (both written & verbal)
Exhibits strong technical knowledge of broadcast transmission workflows and infrastructure, including IP-based video transport, satellite, fiber-optic networks, bonded cellular technology, and other contribution and distribution platforms.
Advanced understanding of IP transmission technologies and protocols, including SRT, RTMP/UDP, multicast/unicast workflows, network addressing, port configuration, signal routing, and troubleshooting of IP-based contribution feeds.
Demonstrated experience configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting satellite, fiber, IP, and bonded transmission paths for live and recorded broadcast operations.
Strong understanding of broadcast video and audio standards, including video formats, frame rates, encoding/decoding, audio embedding and mapping, signal conversion, synchronization, and quality-control practices.
Prior experience working within a Technical Operations Center, Network Operations Center, Master Control, Transmission Operations Center, or comparable mission-critical broadcast environment.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical and operational issues under time-sensitive conditions while maintaining continuity of live broadcast operations.
Proven leadership skills with experience supervising, training, mentoring, and developing technical and operational personnel.
Ability to effectively manage multiple simultaneous live events, transmission paths, technical resources, and operational priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to respond effectively to changing operational priorities, emergency situations, transmission failures, and other time-sensitive broadcast issues while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
