Are you looking for the next step in your healthcare leadership path? Fairview has a Supervisor opportunity in the Staffing & Scheduling department! This is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours every 2 weeks) salaried position, on the Day/Evening/Night shift, working weekends as needed. The location for this role is our Midway Corporate Campus, centrally located in Saint Paul.

 

The Supervisor leads staffing advisors through all staffing functions, including, but not limited to; master schedule balance, schedule production, changes to posted schedules, trades, e-time and schedule edits, orientation schedules, near term recruitment, and daily staffing.

 

The Supervisor, SOC, Staffing and Scheduling is responsible for the execution of daily operations for their staffing advisor team within Fairview's System Operations Center (SOC). Oversight of daily operations includes all staffing and scheduling functions (including, but not limited to; master schedule balance, schedule production, changes to posted schedules, trades, e-time and schedule edits, orientation schedules, near term recruitment, and daily staffing). This role is accountable for ensuring consistency in performance, process standards and technology use for staffing and scheduling workflows within the segmented work model as well as the site(s) they are supporting. This role is also responsible to support alignment in standard work across the units and departments supported by the SOC. The Supervisor, Staffing and Scheduling is also responsible for completing Staffing Advisor work on rare occasions. The Supervisor team will rotate to provide onsite/on-call coverage for escalation support of the Staffing Advisor team and as a resource to customers.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Staffing and Scheduling leadership, unit leadership and frontline teams to ensure Staffing Advisors are consistently meeting staffing and scheduling requirements.
  • Manages team of Staffing Advisors for segmented work and site(s) supported.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for the Staffing Advisors segmented workflow(s) supported by their team.
  • Accountable for oversight of day to day operations including ensuring site/units are staffed to provide appropriate level of care.
  • Maintains situational awareness of team staffing and scheduling needs and potential bottlenecks and support daily actions to mitigate.
  • Identifies barriers and supports Staffing Advisor team in problem solving and mitigations as appropriate.
  • Coaches Staffing Advisors to implement problem-solving mechanisms in both routine and emergency situations.
  • Ensures communications are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Facilitates and participates in the daily SOC and system huddles and other related meetings.
  • Ensures support of the mission, goals, and objectives of the System Operations Center and M Health Fairview:
  • Drive standard work to drive toward department and system goals.
  • Conducts daily huddles with staff to closely monitor daily operations and resolve/escalate barriers.
  • Conducts frequent, timely and appropriate communication through one to one sessions and employee rounding.
  • Delegates appropriate tasks to staff.
  • Serves as a role model for staff.
  • Responsible for human resources management for assigned area(s) to achieve quality service and positive employee relations:
  • Implements and communicates Human Resources policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Selects top talent, matching organizational needs with appropriate skill sets.
  • Conducts timely employee performance appraisals.
  • Uses corrective discipline in accordance with applicable policy or union contract to mitigate workplace behavior problems.
  • Monitors employee overtime, absenteeism and takes appropriate action to identify and correct issues.
  • Provides oversight and ensures completion of training for employees, including orientation, in-services and competency validation in accordance with department and unit standards.
  • Completes unit staff hour schedules to ensure adequate coverage
  • Responsible for communication within the assigned areas.
  • Seeks clarification, listens and conveys information clearly in written and verbal forms.
  • Investigates and responds appropriately to all complaints and takes effective, corrective action when necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required or 6 years of leadership experience
  • 2 years experience with staffing and scheduling or healthcare
  • 1 year formal or informal (mentor, trainer, lead) leadership role

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years experience with staffing and scheduling or healthcare
  • Strong excel and scheduling system experience

 

Qualifications:

$81,702.40- $115,336.00 Annual
