Major Purpose:Shift Supervisors lead the operating efforts of the rail, coke, and transloading work performed for the Cenovus refinery by organizing and ensuring work is completed in a safe and efficient mannerWhat you'll be doing:

Lead in Safety by setting an example, ensure procedures are followed, conduct training, praise safe behavior and correct unsafe acts, build a culture of safety, and take an active role in the daily safety briefingWork with the individual team members on their specific needs, make sure they are treated right and provide them with opportunities for growth through cross-trainingBe a presence in the field. Work alongside team members as they perform their work, balancing time between in-field and office workParticipate in team member professional growth activities such as hiring, coaching, disciplinary processes, and one-on-onesAssure crews are on time and prepared to workServe as incident commander during emergencies in the absence of the Operations ManagerUnderstand the unique needs of each operating unit, on the loading and rail side of the business, and see that the customer's expectations are metPlan and organize the crew so they can be productive, and the needs of the customers can be metPartner with the Shift Supervisors on opposite shifts to ensure a smooth transition from shift to shiftCommunicate with the Operations Manager on any operational problems or issuesProvide accurate daily shift summary reports to the Operations Managers and other affected partiesReport any equipment issues to the maintenance teamLearn, implement, teach, and execute the S7 Delivery SystemCommunicate with PSS to understand their needs for the shift and ensure that the needs of the customer are executedOther duties as constituted

Requirements to be successful in this position:

Subject matter expert in one or more areas of the operationAbility to perform basic maintenanceBasic computer skillsCan work independently with minimal supervisionPositive attitude and a good team memberMust pass a pre-employment physical, reference checks, drug screen, motor-vehicle report, and criminal background checkMust be able to attend and pass all tests associated with job-related coursework. This includes, but it not limited to: OSHA, HazMat, and FRA related coursesAble to reliably fulfill a set rotational schedule (days, nights, 24/7/365).

Education/Experience:

3 to 5 years of operating in an industrial environmentCurrent Safety SpecialistMinimum 1 year of direct supervisory experienceA high school diploma, or equivalentCurrent/valid driver's license
